A new probe into violence in 1999 in the state of Guerrero, which is close to Central American country El Salvador, will focus on former Guerrero state Prosecutor Alberto de Jesus Pinera, a former governor of Guerrero, who will be charged with abuse of office in connection with the case.

Ricardo Rios, the chief prosecutor of Guerrero, said it was up to the president to decide whether to accept the probe into Pinera and that he would make the decision at a meeting later today.

More charges

On Monday, police said five people were killed, including six officers of the same military unit that is investigating Pinera.

The soldiers were on patrol in one of Guerrero's most violent neighborhoods last month when gunmen opened fire on them, the military said, while two soldiers died of injuries they sustained in the attack.

A total of 34 people have been killed in the violence that has rocked Guerrero since Nov. 16, while at least two people are missing.

The National Council of La Raza said on Tuesday it was ready to organize a march next Monday.

The military in Guerrero has been struggling with corruption cases in neighboring Mexico for months, and the military has said that it will not pay attention to federal investigations or to complaints of abuse of power against police or military officers.

The United States has been considering sending aid to the Guerrero military, but the government in El Salvador did not want it.

The driver has been named as Zulkifli, a 51-year-old from Bali whose home in Bali's Kuta district was being searched by the police. Police were also hunting an Asian man in his late 40s.

A Filipino man was killed and three people were injured when a driver who was stopped at a Bali motorway was hit by a truck along a rural road.

The injured victims included the 47-year-old Australian, a woman and a man from Bali's Kuta district, which is close to the Indian Ocean border.

A police officer speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed the three victims died at the scene but said they were being treated for serious injuries.

"A 41-year-old Filipino was killed at the scene and three people were wounded. All passengers were evacuated and taken to hospital. Three women and three men were sent to hospital by the police."

"All the injured passengers who have now been evacuated from the scene were released from the hospital," the officer said.

Police are now in a hunt for a 40-year-old Australian man and a Filipino man, both residents of Bali's Kuta district, a statement on the Bali Police Department's Twitter account said.

"They are among the victims of Friday's accident at the motorway crossing in Balinese province near to the Indian Ocean border, police said earlier today."
